Where to start

There are times where driving impaired goes farther than just having a lot to drink.

There are many options to help. The behavioral health treatment services locator —provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) — is a great source.

Another popular source is Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Of course, it’s helpful to go to counseling or even a therapist. The resources for you and/or your loved ones are endless. Please don’t give up.

Some other resources to help prevent drinking and driving include:

Traffic Safety Marketing – free campaign posters, TV/radio/web advertisements, information regarding NHTSA’s Buzzed Driving is Drunk Driving and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.

Stop Underage Drinking – federal resources for information on drinking underage and prevention tips.

The National Criminal Justice Reference Service – resources on impaired driving which include enforcement and prevention.

NHSTA’s Stop Impaired Driving – information to prevent impaired driving in your community.

If you or someone you know has a drinking or drug abuse problem, please don’t wait to get help. Make the right choice and get the help that you or your loved ones need.
